I lead a team of 23 legal professionals, delivering strategic property advice and supporting organisational policy and direction. My responsibilities cover all land and property transactions, ensuring technical integrity and compliance across Kāinga Ora’s portfolio.I have been integral to establishing a blended risk and legal directorate, and have led out internal board reports, frameworks and legal style guidelines to enhance governance, transparency, and decision-making. I have driven significant operational changes within the legal team, including restructuring workflows to eliminate backlogs, centralising lease drafting for greater efficiency, and implementing process improvements that have delivered over $300K in annual savings and reduced external legal spend by $200K in nine months.My role includes providing direct legal input into complex business transactions, critical contract negotiations, and supporting executive and board-level decision-making. I have built strong relationships with Crown agencies, local councils, infrastructure providers, iwi, and the public, and am currently leading a project to make end-to-end divestment processes more lean and agile, increasing throughput and enabling repeatable, scalable transactions.My leadership has been recognised through multiple commendations for fostering a positive change culture, professionalism, and high team performance.
