ABOUT KATIE CHILDRESS

I am a fourth-year student at the University of Georgia pursuing Risk Management and Insurance in the C. Herman Terry College of Risk Management. I am an active member in many campus organizations, including Chi Omega Fraternity, Women in Business, Insurance Society, and Gamma Iota Sigma. I was chosen as the Vice President of Industry Relations with Gamma Iota Sigma, where I am responsible for fostering relationships between students and employers, as well as planning campus visits and monthly meetings.In Summer 2024, I traveled to Australia for the Discover Abroad program through the UGA Warnell School of Forestry. I learned about economic sustainability through hands on experiences in cities including Brisbane, Sydney, and Cairns. I am grateful for the friendships and connections I made abroad and hope to continue those professional relationships.In Summer 2025, I traveled to London for the UGA RMI London Study Away Program alongside 11 other students. We met with multiple brokers, underwriters, and risk managers, and had the opportunity to visit Lloyd\'s of London. I am extremely grateful for the connections made abroad and cannot thank my professors enough for the opportunity to travel to one of the largest insurance markets in the world. I completed my Summer 2025 internship with Lockton, where I was a Summer Associate working out of the Atlanta office. I grew my professional network as well as my knowledge of insurance and got firsthand experience with managing relationships between clients and carriers. I am grateful for the opportunity to intern with such a prestigious company, as well as be a part of their inclusive culture. I am happy to announce I accepted my full-time role post-graduation in May and am currently working part time on the Public Entity team.
