ABOUT KATHRYN FONTAINE
I currently serve as the Transit Development Manager at Chapel Hill Transit, where I lead the planning and delivery of the North–South Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and manage major capital improvements across the Chapel Hill Transit service area. My work focuses on translating strategic transit vision into implementable projects that improve mobility, reliability, and equity for the community. My background bridges human-centered thinking and infrastructure delivery. I hold a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which shape how I approach public engagement, organizational dynamics, and change management in complex public-sector environments.I also earned a Master of Education in Training and Development from North Carolina State University, strengthening my ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and guide projects through planning, funding, and implementation.I am particularly interested in project and program management within public transportation, with a focus on guiding complex, multi-stakeholder capital projects from concept through delivery. I enjoy putting together the pieces of the puzzle, aligning technical teams and decision-makers, and ensuring projects advance on schedule, within scope, and in service of long-term community goals.
