ABOUT KATHLEEN HANLON-BOROS
I believe that in order to be the best educator on a subject, you have to have walked in it\'s shoes. With a diagnosis of Bipolar and Anxiety Disorder at the age of 19, I was determined and believed my illness was a purpose and I was going to use my purpose to make sure those with medical backgrounds, educators, mental health field and those families and individuals with mental illness have a better understanding on the subject. I got my Master\'s degree in Special Education in order to be the best teacher I could be to those struggling throughout the spectrum. I taught for eight years and have since written and published two books on Mental Health Awareness and one on Patriotism. I’m currently working on one about the dangers of marijuana, written in rhyme and humor for children 4 and up. My strength came from my father, an amazing role model, strength, and Marine. My third book was inspired by him. I believe we are to honor our veterans and soldiers fighting for our freedom. I believe in ending the stigma attached to those, like myself with a mental illness. Education starts in our homes with our children. I\'ve written my books with my characters representing my family. Binky Bunny Wants To Know About Bipolar gives people a glimpse of what a parent deals with, with a mental illness. Binky Bunny and The Psychiatric Briar Patch, is my way of ending the stigma placed on Psychiatric hospital’s cruel visitation rights placed on parents who are sick in the hospital and the rules are not to let them see their children! My third book, Binky Bunny Stands For The Flag, teaches reverence for our flag, Pledge of Allegiance, and those who have fought and are fighting for our freedom. I deal with unpopular subjects to some. I need help from Publishing companies, magazines, any type of media, medical and mental health workers who are ready to stand by me and my family to Hop The Stigma with Binky Bunny.
