ABOUT KAITLYN KAPPESSER

My name is Kaitlyn Kappesser. Currently I\'m one of The Kroger Co.\'s youngest controllers, managing accounting and finances for a billion dollar retail grocery company. I have been at Kroger since 2011. Prior to my current role, I spent 6 years in manufacturing at 3 separate plants as a financial controller. At my last plant, the goal of my role was to on-board the manufacturing plant into Kroger manufacturing, by leading change and innovation. I also have over three years of experience working in internal audit for a Fortune 25 company. I’ve reviewed purchasing and promotional contracts, tested numerous SOX controls, fixed assets and depreciation accounts, compared rent expenses to real estate leases, reviewed inventory procedures in addition to testing account balances for several balance sheet categories. My B.S. in Accounting is from The Ohio State University and I am currently have my CPA license from the Accountancy Board of Ohio. Outside of work, I enjoy being a part of young professional groups. For 2 years, I was the co-chair for the Young Professionals affinity group at The Kroger Co. We planned career development events as well as social and networking events. My co-chair and I reported to Kroger\'s Chief Information Officer and our Chief Diversity Officer. I was also involved in a Cincinnati Young Professionals group called CincyYP. This group consists of YP leaders throughout the city. We gathered together to discuss strategies to attract, retain and develop young professionals in Cincinnati. I was on the executive board for 3 years. Outside work, I enjoy writing, numerous outdoor activities, exploring new cities, reading books on psychology and of course, spending time with friends and family. My friends would describe me as reliable, altruistic, creative and logical.
