ABOUT JULIE ALEXIS

I am a passionate health care innovator inspired by my 45+ years as a distance runner and 20+ years solving business challenges in the health care space. In the course of my career, I\'ve created new health care products, managed successful health care programs and worked closely with clinicians to provide quality care. Recently, I earned my masters in arts from Johns Hopkins\' prestigious writing program. Currently, I serve as Vice President, Strategic Initiatives at AARP’s Public Policy Institute where I oversee the development and management of its strategic programs and operations and generate significant program revenue. I especially enjoy working closely with major foundations, for-profit and non-profit organizations, and coalitions to create and deliver impact and results in complex and diverse environments. Before joining the Public Policy Institute, I served as Vice President, Health at AARP Services Inc, where I created and developed health products and services for people 50+, managed major health care providers and multi-million dollar budgets, and launched key health initiatives. I served as media spokesperson, guest speaker for major industry conferences and events and led national panel discussions focused on innovative business solutions. Prior to AARP, as a senior executive in the health care delivery system, I built physician practice groups, managed Medicare demonstration projects and developed new clinical services—including award-winning women’s health services. As a marketing executive, I worked with large insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and health care advocates focused on consumer health programs. My direct-to-consumer work is grounded in a deep understanding of data analytics and personalized marketing.A strong business and strategic professional, I\'m a proud Hoya, having graduated with honors from Georgetown University\'s School of Foreign Service. In addition to my master of arts from Johns Hopkins, I completed executive programs at both Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and Georgetown University\'s McDonough School of Business.
