ABOUT JOYLAINE IRENE FAJIMIYO
Hello! I currently work in the UKI corporate tax division at EY Dublin and I\'m studying for a professional qualification in accounting. Furthermore, I am particularly interested in Irish tax compliance and international human rights law. Throughout the years, I have been an active participant in vocational work and volunteering. I volunteered as a community mentor to secondary school pupils in 2020/21. I provided guidance on how to settle into university and I organised multiple interactive workshops! My favourite workshop to deliver was based on the importance of adopting a growth mindset. Additionally, I have exceptional leadership skills after working as a Sunday school teacher at my local Parish for 9 months in 2019/20. One of my most notable achievements to date is my participation in the Transition Year Seanad Debate in 2018. The programme was called \'Vótáil 100\' and the debate celebrated the centenary of Irish women obtaining the right to vote in 1918. Out of over 350 entrants in an all-Ireland competition, fifteen students and I were selected to participate in a debate to commemorate the event. It was certainly a memorable and rewarding experience to speak in the Seanad Chamber of Leinster House. The programme allowed me to explore the public speaking skills that I had acquired through the Transition Year programme at my secondary school.
