About John D. Plante

John is a Managing Principal of Langan, one of the nation’s premier land development engineering design firms. He is a civil engineer of over 30 years and oversees Langan’s Boston, Massachusetts and New Haven, Connecticut offices. Langan is a 1,700-person, multi-discipline firm providing integrated “ground-n-down” engineering and environmental services. For over fifty years, Langan has served public and private clients around the world with 48 offices nationally and offices in Europe, Central America and the Middle East. John’s expertise lay in land development and transportation for institutions and developers, providing engineering solutions that are also design solutions. He specializes in overseeing complex public and private projects utilizing all of Langan’s integrated services; stressing technical excellence – practical experience – client responsiveness. John has been a member of the firm\'s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. John is chair of the firm\'s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.John began his career in Boston working on the early stages of the Big Dig and was a member of the design team that delivered the first single-point, urban interchange project in CT at Exit 48 on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull. He was the project executive leading a team of architects and engineers on The Boathouse at Canal Dock for the City of New Haven. He led Langan’s role on the development team on the award-winning Blue Back Square New Urbanism project in downtown West Hartford and assisted Stop & Shop Supermarkets in their successful expansion program; having worked on over a hundred sites throughout the state of Connecticut. John is a member of numerous organizations including NAIOP, ACEC, ITE, AIA (professional affiliate), ICSC, and ULI. He was also a member of the Connecticut State Legislature Task Force on Climate Change and Shoreline Protection.
