ABOUT JESSICA JESSE TRAYLOR

As a Public Information Officer (PIO) at Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM), I play a vital role in informing and engaging the public during emergencies and disasters. I work with multiple stakeholders, such as media outlets, government agencies, community organizations, and first responders, to coordinate and disseminate accurate and timely information using various channels and platforms. I have a bachelor\'s degree in Public Safety and Administration from St. Petersburg College. I am finalizing my master\'s in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) from West Virginia University in Spring 24’. I serve as the Kentucky National Guard as a Mass Communication Specialist, graduating from the Defense Information School. I learned valuable skills in media relations, social media, photography, videography, and graphic design. I leverage my education and skills to create and implement effective communication strategies and campaigns that enhance KYEM\'s reputation and trust among the public. My core competencies include events management, external communications, attention to detail, and crisis communication. I have successfully organized and executed several events, such as press conferences, training sessions, and community outreach programs, that increased KYEM\'s visibility and outreach. I have also developed and maintained positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, securing coverage and exposure for KYEM\'s initiatives and achievements. Additionally, I have demonstrated my ability to handle complex and sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion, ensuring that KYEM\'s messages are consistent, clear, and compliant with relevant laws and policies. I am passionate about serving my community and making a difference in people\'s lives. I aspire to further my career in public information and emergency management and to continuously improve my skills and knowledge in this dynamic and challenging field.
