The role of President traces back to John Muir, Sierra Club\'s first leader in 1892. Throughout the organization\'s history, the President has partnered with the Executive Director to lead the US\'s most powerful grassroots environmental organization - and guide a Board of Directors with visionaries like Ansel Adams and William O. Douglas, the nation\'s longest-serving Supreme Court Justice. I work every day with Sierra Club leadership to strengthen our impact on climate policy and sustainability, marshaling all my strengths in public speaking, external strategy, analytics and finance, and management across every team and function in the organization.

ABOUT PATRICK MURPHY
Climate and sustainability solutions are the throughline of my career—from roots in national student leadership to my role as President with Sierra Club, the US\'s oldest and most storied environmental organization.As an undergrad, I secured the introduction of a bipartisan environmental bill to the US Senate. Within two years, I was directing national programs for a major student environmental network. My leadership incubated environmental policy initiatives across the country, including a national Climate Change program near the beginning of modern climate policymaking.My MBA built on this foundation, catalyzing climate and community investment roles in the US and South Africa. I was pivotal to raising $250MM for a community-focused fintech venture, and my consulting and data skills enabled nearly a thousand banks to help their communities thrive. As a sustainability consultant to some of the largest companies on the planet, my insights drove impact across nearly every dimension of sustainability, from decarbonization to minority business engagement. My view is global, helping Fortune 500 companies understand—and anticipate—sustainability signals in the US, the EU, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, Singapore, and beyond.I\'m now a sustainability speaker, climate advisor, and President of Sierra Club. My leadership \"holds the whole\" of the organization, aligning and catalyzing its globally-recognized impact in climate justice, biodiversity, and clean energy. I\'ve emceed press conferences with US Senators, taught top-ranked university courses on corporate sustainability, and led citizen campaigns resulting in new, bipartisan Congressional legislation.
