ABOUT JASON BURKETT
I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of the USO for Louisiana and Mississippi, where I lead operations that connect, support, and uplift service members and their families across the region- and remain directly connected to the organization’s global efforts and initiatives. Every day, my team and I strive to create a “home away from home” for those who serve—whether through strengthening local partnerships, expanding vital programs, or ensuring our centers remain places of comfort and connection. This chapter builds on my 24½ years as a United States Marine, where I had the privilege of leading at every level—from small teams in the field to thousands of Marines, Sailors, and civilian employees across the globe. Highlights include: • Commanding Officer, Headquarters Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve & Marine Forces South – led 1,800 personnel and managed the Marine Corps Support Facility in New Orleans. • Assistant Chief of Staff, G1 (Human Resources) – oversaw the manpower and welfare of Marines, Sailors, and civilians geographically disbursed around the country. • Inspector-Instructor, 3D Civil Affairs Group – built a new unit to full operational capability, established organizational capacity, and deployed fully trained and ready unit Marines to 12 countries. • Reserve Policy Analyst, HQMC – served as a subject matter expert shaping Marine Corps and Department of Defense policy for reserve mobilization and entitlements. I bring forward the same principles from my military service into my civilian role: mission first, people always. My passion is ensuring those who defend our nation—and their families—are never without support, connection, or recognition. If you share a commitment to service members and military families, I’d love to connect.
