About Jean Maxwell
I am a reformed psychotherapist. My career started by training psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers on how to cure psychopathologies. I worked in the tough rooms of state and federal prisons and mental hospitals. There, I learned everything there is to know about organizational dysfunction.Using what I learned in the field about organizational dysfunction coupled with my knowledge of the human potential model, I’ve been able to train, coach, and mentor business leaders around the world. I’ve helped individuals, teams, and organizations increase effectiveness and profitability through accountability, empowerment, relationships, productivity, and trust. As a Vistage Chair for 22+ years, I have learned the business challenges of the equation; structure, process, systems, financials, strategy, culture, and powerful relationship building. In the course of 22 years, I have led 50+ CEOs and business leaders using face-to-face executive guidance, coaching, peer group meetings, and leadership assessment tools. My goal as a Chair is to be a guide, a mentor, and a resource. To listen, be a sounding-board, and to help identify solutions. I want my members to grow professionally but also as individuals in their roles outside of the office. My members want the same as well. They want to be challenged and want to grow professionally and personally. As one of my members said “[Jean] and our group has an unrelenting commitment to the development of the whole leader. A business owner might have a finely tuned mind for business, but if that person’s competencies in their personal life aren’t also finely tuned, their effectiveness and happiness suffers.”I’m an internationally known guide, consultant, trainer, facilitator, and speaker. I bring a unique blend of psychological insight and business acumen integrating inspiration with practical human tools.I earned my Masters in Psychology from the University of Texas-El Paso. I am a certified Clinical Teaching Transactional Analyst and have served as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix, as well as a guest lecturer at the Tulane School of Social Work and at Auburn University and the Public Service College - Singapore.
