ABOUT JAMES WOODS

Head of Quality with 12-years experience of working in compliance, quality assurance and operational leadership positions in Australia and the UK, including senior roles in both the public and private sectors. I have extensive experience of implementing quality management systems, ensuring compliance to both industry-specific (NDIS & Aged Care) and internationally recognised quality standards, particularly ISO:9001, ISO:27001 and have often assumed roles with responsibility for multiple functions including business strategy, compliance, quality assurance, information security, workforce development, safeguarding, crisis management, risk management, data assurance, and health & safety. My most recent role was as Head of Trust & Safety at Mable, an online platform and marketplace that enables aged care and disability consumers to connect with independent support workers. During my 3-year tenure, I was primarily responsible for ensuring the overall safety of customers on the platform, owning the risk, moderation, incident management and regulatory compliance functions. Key achievements include establishing the risk management function, building functional systems and processes for managing incidents and complaints, achieving compliance to the ISO:27001 standard, developing a moderation service that identifies various user behaviours and responds accordingly, and ensuring ongoing compliance to sector regulation.Prior to that I served as Head of Compliance & Quality Assurance for a royally chartered non-profit organisation based in London, UK, during which time I oversaw setting-up the department, serving on the company leadership team, and managing subject matter experts across a variety of critical functions. I am vastly experienced in people management, governance, audit, strategic planning, stakeholder management, defining business standards, managing supplier networks, and overseeing complex budgets. I have an excellent grasp of the English language which is complemented by a degree in Journalism. This has helped me to develop an exceptional ability to communicate and provide clear direction to my staff, colleagues and external parties. In 2014 I spent a year working as Quality Assurance Manager for a direct disability service provider in Sydney, Australia before relocating to London, UK.In May 2021 I returned to Australia and hold unrestricted Australian working rights through my permanent residency visa. Whilst I am currently based in NSW, I am happy to relocate anywhere in Astralia for the right opportunity.
