About James J. Schimmel

Jim is Head of Corporate Development at The Bank of New York Mellon, effective August 2021. He is also a member of the Finance leadership team. Preceding this Jim was Managing Director, Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions at JPMorgan Chase where he coordinated and executed the activities associated with the evaluation, analysis and completion of JPMC’s acquisition, divestiture and strategic investment activities, a role he had since the JPMorgan Chase merger with Bank One in 2004. Before this, Jim was part of the Corporate Strategy and Development function of The Chase Manhattan Bank, since Prior to joining Global Finance, Jim held a number of key posts within lines of business, including managing client administration, product management, and strategy development teams for the Institutional Trust business and a one-year assignment based in London. Jim was also involved with broader corporate initiatives, including having led Finance recruiting team activities at two local universities. Outside of BNY Mellon, Jim is active in his community. Among other things, Jim served on the Historic Preservation Commission of the Village of Ridgewood, NJ for 8 years, a role he was appointed to in January 2014.
