As an Application Developer Intern at Southern Company’s Gas division, I am developing and deploying a C#/.NET Core–based API extension that automates call notifications to field technicians. By integrating Twilio for voice and SMS alerts, I’m streamlining emergency response workflows—triggering automated callouts based on sensor readings and maintenance schedules, and ensuring that field crews receive timely, accurate notifications. To support real-time delivery, I’m modeling notification rules in SQL Server, optimizing database queries, and implementing robust authentication, logging, and error-handling mechanisms. I collaborate closely with Gas operations, IT architecture, and mobile engineering teams to gather requirements, define endpoint specifications, and maintain enterprise-grade security and scalability standards.In parallel, I am leading a strategic research initiative to address the question: “How can Southern Company ensure energy affordability while investing in sustainable, clean energy generation to meet the increasing demand of AI data centers over the next 10 years?” I am conducting a comprehensive market analysis of renewable technologies, demand-response programs, and emerging grid-modernization strategies. By evaluating cost-benefit scenarios and building financial models, I am developing a roadmap that balances short-term affordability with long-term sustainability. I regularly present actionable insights and high-level recommendations to senior leadership, influencing the department’s ten-year energy strategy and reinforcing our commitment to corporate sustainability goals.
