ABOUT JAKE MAYS
I\'m a transplant Floridian from Alabama. I was raised right next door to the Kennedy Space Center. During high school, I joined the U.S. Army Reserves as a Combat Engineer, splitting up basic training & advanced training between junior and senior year. A couple of years later, I joined the U.S. Air Force as a Bomb Dog Handler. I served in Korea and during Desert Shield/Storm. I also did a lot of mutual aid support for the U.S; Marshall\'s, Secret Service, Navy, Army and several local area Florida law enforcement whilst stationed in Fort Walton Beach.I joined the Daytona Beach Police Department in January 1994 until July 2019. I worked all facets except the traffic unit. I was promoted to Sergeant in February 2008, then Lieutenant in July 2012. I also taught at the \"Police Academy\"(Daytona State College Emergency Services Institute) from 20••••18. Prior to retirement, I was the Treasurer for Sheriff Mike Chitwood\'s successful campaign.
