ABOUT INGO FRIESE

I\'m a Research Engineer at T-Labs, the central innovation unit of Deutsche Telekom, where I explore what it means for a network to truly run itself. My current focus is on Level 5 autonomous networks: networks that operate without human intervention, adapt to changing conditions in real time, and make decisions independently. To get there, I believe we need more than smarter automation. We need a fundamentally different architectural paradigm. That paradigm, in my view, is the agentic web: an ecosystem where specialized AI agents collaborate, negotiate, and delegate tasks to one another, much like a marketplace of expertise. Agents don\'t just execute instructions; they discuss problems, hire other agents for specific subtasks, and converge on solutions collectively. I\'m convinced that these principles offer a credible path toward fully automated telecommunication networks. But the deeper question fascinates me just as much as the engineering: How far do we actually want to go? Should autonomous networks remain technical systems under human governance, or could future networks hold their own budgets, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and act as economic agents in their own right? The answer isn\'t obvious, and that\'s exactly what makes this space worth exploring. In practice, I design architectures and build agents. I work at the intersection of AI, IoT, and telecommunications standards, and I represent Deutsche Telekom in the oneM2M standards organization.
