ABOUT HONG WENG PANG
I am an enthusiastic, creative, result-oriented scientist who have worked in numerous laboratories and collaborative-work settings throughout my scientific and personal career. My career goal is to utilize the technical and interpersonal skills I acquired through my scientific training to design and develop novel therapeutics, biologics, and technologies that have the potential to transform health care and ultimately improve the lives of patients. A summary of my career achievements and skills: • Creative problem solver with project and time management abilities. I have worked on numerous projects across multiple disciplines. These projects range from discovery science, mitochondria-cellular stress sensing, gene expression/translation to disorders of bone remodeling. I rapidly adapted and identified gaps in knowledge which I addressed resulting in several original research publications. • Strong relationship builder with collaborative abilities. Most recently, I worked with multi-disciplinary groups in the pharmacology field to drive projects forward in fast-paced environments, prior to starting my PhD thesis work. During my graduate studies, I conducted my own project, uncovering macromolecular networks of protein-protein or protein-RNA interaction to facilitate sensing of oxidative stress within the mitochondria to modulate gene expression. • Proficient communicator with scientific writing and mentorship skills. I have given over 10 scientific presentations and authored 6 primary scientific research articles. I have mentored over 15 junior scientists, through their rotations and internships, in the various labs where I have worked. • Attention to detail and result-oriented scientist with ability to produce high-quality data. I have experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based functional assay development, protein-protein or protein-RNA interaction high throughput screening, cloning and site-directed mutagenesis, DNA/RNA and protein expression approaches, confocal microscopy, animal handling including surgery, dosing, and necropsy, data analysis and interpretation. I love to explore nature, golf, snowboard, stand-up paddle board, kayak, try new foods, and experience new activities. Please feel free to reach out to me via LinkedIn or email: h••••••••@gmail.com
