ABOUT HAKAN SABAHLAR
I believe architecture begins with life. For more than three decades, my work has focused on creating environments that respond to human experience, climate, and spatial memory. I approach architecture not only as the design of buildings, but as the shaping of places where people move, feel, and live.My professional practice spans a wide range of scales, from infrastructure and large-span engineering structures to industrial buildings, educational facilities, urban developments, and human-scale environments.Working primarily within Mediterranean climates, I explore how wind, light, shade, and spatial openness can shape more comfortable and breathable urban environments.I am also the architect and contractor of a LEED v4 Gold certified administrative building, reflecting my commitment to integrating design quality with construction knowledge.Among my conceptual explorations is the Urban Breathing Block, a climate-responsive urban model that investigates breathable density for Mediterranean cities. My work seeks to combine architectural thinking, structural intelligence, and human experience in order to create spaces that are not only seen, but truly lived.
