Fintech / BankEnsured ACID transaction integrity and data consistency during core framework migration, sustaining workloads exceeding 100M+ queries per hour in a high-throughput banking environment.Architected and implemented read replica strategy within the core monolith, migrating millions of read queries from the primary database to replicas, significantly improving latency, scalability, and infrastructure cost efficiency.Designed and delivered an automated operational workflow for controlled manual job execution, strengthening governance, auditability, and operational risk mitigation.Led cross-functional alignment on distributed system resilience, defining and institutionalizing standards for circuit breaker, idempotency, fallback, timeout, and retry policies — improving system availability and reducing incident frequency in critical financial flows.Optimized JVM observability strategy using the Datadog agent, reducing millions of unnecessary Hibernate spans in distributed traces, lowering APM costs and improving trace signal-to-noise ratio for production diagnostics.Acted as architectural advisor to multiple engineering squads, ensuring scalable system design, regulatory-conscious decisions, and adherence to high-availability and fault-tolerant banking standards.Java - Groovy - Kotlin - Spring - Spring Boot - JVM - Grails - Hibernate - SQL - MySQL - Postgres - AWS - SQS - SNS - Architecture - Redis - DynamoDB - CI/CD - Github

ABOUT GERSON AGUIAR
I am a Software Engineer with 9+ years of experience designing and scaling high-throughput distributed systems across logistics and fintech environments. I specialize in building resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient architectures that operate under strict consistency, availability, and regulatory requirements. My core expertise includes JVM ecosystems (Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Grails), distributed systems design, SQL and NoSQL databases, AWS-based cloud infrastructure, and observability engineering.Currently at ASAAS, I lead architectural initiatives for a banking platform processing over 100M+ database queries per hour. My responsibilities include ensuring ACID integrity during core framework migrations, implementing read-replica strategies to improve scalability and reduce infrastructure costs, defining resilience standards (circuit breaker, idempotency, retry, timeout, fallback), and optimizing JVM observability using the Datadog agent to reduce unnecessary tracing overhead and enhance production diagnostics.Previously, I contributed to scaling large platforms in logistics and B2B commerce, including Inventa. Earlier in my career, I helped scale the partner platform of the largest private logistics company in South America, increasing throughput from fewer than 10K to over 400K packages per day. This involved integrating microservices (Python, Node.js, Java), monoliths, and event-driven architecture (Kafka, AWS), while managing multi-database environments (PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, MongoDB) and delivering simple, user-focused interfaces in complex backend ecosystems.I publish- Video content on my channel: https://youtube.com/@dev.gersonaguiar- Posts on Medium: https://gersonaguiar.medium.com/
