ABOUT GEORGE ARTHUR BOWMAN

Welcome to my LinkedIn profile! I\'m George, a Flood Risk & Asset Management practitioner with over 7 years of experience, mostly in local government but also in the private sector. I love using my skills to support clients and communities mitigate flood risks and effectively manage infrastructure assets. A bit about my journey so far: I graduated (2:1) in BSc Geography & Environmental Management from the University of the West of England in 2015 and then FdSc River & Coastal Engineering from the same university in 2017. In 2017, I immigrated from the UK to New Zealand, which I\'ve been calling home ever since. I worked as a Project Engineer in the Flood Protection department of Greater Wellington Regional Council for 2.5 years. Over the same period I was Deputy Chair of the National Asset Performance User Group, a sub-group of the NZ River Managers Special Interest Group. In 2019, I started Asset BowManagement Ltd, a solo flood risk asset management consultancy, as I wanted to help multiple Local Government authorities instead of just one. Since then I have worked on over 30 different projects with 9 different clients across Aotearoa New Zealand. For the last two years, I\'ve been a board member of Āpōpō, where I contribute and collaborate with industry professionals to drive sustainable communities enabled by public asset management excellence. I\'ve developed a series of online flood risk asset management courses, sharing my knowledge and experience with others who are passionate about the field. Currently, I\'m embracing a nomadic lifestyle, traveling around New Zealand to support clients and explore the beautiful landscapes of this country. However, I\'m looking forward to settling down soon, with Otago or Wellington being top contenders for my new base. I\'m always open to exciting opportunities in the flood risk management and asset management space.
