ABOUT GURUCHARAN DASS
I graduated with an M.S. degree in Geographic Information Science from California State University, Northridge. I am highly skilled and experienced in operating advanced GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS, along with performing spatial analysis using programming languages like Python, SQL, and basic Java (Google Earth Engine). During my GIS career, I have had the opportunity to work on numerous projects where I applied my knowledge in geography, remote sensing, geographic information science, hydrography, and spatial analysis. I’ve also implemented automation using programming languages such as Python and SQL. In addition to technical skills, I have hands-on experience in field data collection and subsequent analysis in both laboratory and computer environments to generate meaningful outputs. I have developed complex automation scripts using Python, SQL, and Excel macros that streamline the process from raw data input to final output. My specialization/research interest lies in analyzing the impacts of environmental challenges using GIS, programming, and advanced computational models. This research interest is reflected in my previous work, such as digital soil mapping, mapping temperature change, and assessing wildfire risk in Los Angeles. I am highly enthusiastic about working on projects related to environmental monitoring or addressing issues that impact the environment and living beings. Through my experience working on various GIS projects within reputable institutions, I have developed the skills necessary to work independently and effectively on future assignments. I am seeking opportunities with organizations where I can leverage my expertise to contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and collaborate within a dynamic team environment.
