In my role as an RMF Cybersecurity Analyst, I support the full lifecycle of the Authorization to Operate (ATO) process, directly preparing and validating security documentation for over 50 federal information systems. I perform quality assurance (QA) across all NIST 800-53 control families, ensuring control implementations are thoroughly documented, supported by complete evidence, and accurately reflect each system’s risk posture.My responsibilities include analyzing controls, identifying deficiencies, and managing remediation efforts through POA & M tracking and coordination with system owners and assessors. I proactively check system health and control effectiveness, follow up with control owners to ensure timely documentation updates, and contribute to continuous monitoring activities. Additionally, I engage with cloud service provider customer relationship management (CRM) portals (e.g, AWS, Azure, Salesforce) to interpret shared responsibility models, helping internal teams clearly understand and document which responsibilities lie with the cloud provider versus the agency.I collaborate with ISSOs, technical leads, and compliance stakeholders to maintain audit readiness, validate evidence across multiple tools, and ensure RMF documentation remains consistent with federal cybersecurity expectations and evolving compliance requirements.Key Achievements:• Supported completion and submission of multiple ATO packages with zero rejections• Performed QA reviews across NIST 800-53 controls improving documentation consistency by 40%• Streamlined remediation tracking for non-compliant controls, reducing closure time by 25%• Strengthened collaboration between ISSOs, system owners, and assessors during key assessment phases• Improved visibility and reporting of control status across high-impact systems.Strengthened clarity around shared responsibilities for cloud-hosted systems by analyzing CSP-provided documentation
