About Isabel Epistelomogi

Hi! I’m Isabel, a USC student studying Finance with a minor in Philosophy of Law, Politics, and Economics, focused on work at the intersection of AI policy, technology, and impact-driven storytelling. Originally from the greater Milwaukee area, I’m currently based in Los Angeles.‍ My work spans AI safety research, policy consulting, product strategy, and digital communications. At USC’s Information Sciences Institute, I trained LLMs on 200K+ transcripts to study misinformation and emotional contagion during the 2024 election. At Freedman Consulting, I produced AI policy briefs for leading philanthropies, synthesizing congressional hearings on AI safety and consumer protection. I’ve also led digital strategy and content across APCO Worldwide, the Singleton Foundation, Asian Hall of Fame, PwC, Select Management Group, New Blue Interactive, and Leland - supporting campaigns reaching 225M+ views and 1.3M+ followers. As Lead Teaching Assistant at USC Marshall, I support four Product Management and Risk courses serving 600+ students and authored USC’s first GenAI case study, now adopted across multiple cohorts. I’m also first author of a peer-reviewed study on student polarization, presented at SXSW EDU (2025 & 2026) and the College Board AP Annual Conference, inspired by my experience as a first-generation Indonesian American. I’m a Carnegie Young Leaders for Civics Fellow, two-time SXSW EDU speaker, and Viterbi Research Funding recipient. At the Institute for Youth in Policy, I led a 20-person research team conducting a 50-state civics audit and 600+ student focus groups, translating findings into educator toolkits now used across seven states. I’m passionate about responsible AI development, educational equity, and ensuring technology serves communities historically excluded from tech decision-making. Outside of work, I’m a devoted figure skating fan who stays up late for overseas competitions, a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, an avid reader and language learner with a day Duolingo streak, an Oxford comma defender, and a film & TV enthusiast who tracks everything on Letterboxd - and will plug Slow Horses any chance I get.🤝 Currently exploring opportunities at the intersection of AI, storytelling, and strategy.
