I work as one of the senior tribunal officers on the team and mostly cover contents appeals which have more complexity (inc. extended appeals). I pride myself on reaching resolutions to find the best possible placement for children and young people and have been successful in achieving resolution on many before a hearing. This involves careful casework, negotiation, and putting the child at the centre of the discussions. I hold a large number of cases for what is typical of a tribunal officer as a result of the high volume of cases within the service, but feel I am achieving success in managing them despite the increased pressure.

I have over 7 years of experience in the SEND sector, working in different local authorities and roles, all starting from my first job where I worked as a teaching assistant at a local secondary school. Over the years I have gained valuable experience, working my way up through the roles within the local authority and most recently working as a team manager for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. My core competencies include communication, education, interpersonal skills, and child behaviour. I have a Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) qualification which has a focus on leading and managing change and improvement within a local authority. I am passionate about ensuring equal access and opportunity for all learners, and I use my skills and knowledge to coordinate and deliver high-quality and inclusive SEND services. I also utilise my own personal experience of SEND to help engage with parents, schools and professionals to help achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
