After many incredible years working as a geologist in the mining industry, I have now transitioned into the role of the Underground Health and Safety Superintendent at Haile Gold Mine, where fostering a culture of safety is at the core of everything we do. Some of my primary responsibilities include reporting safety incidents and statistics using our INX database, leading critical control audits, assisting with risk assessments, bowtie analysis, and ICAMS, escorting MSHA during the quarterly audits, reporting injuries and incidents to MSHA, ensuring quarterly stench drills are effective and completed, leading weekly underground safety tours, supervising the mine rescue coordinator and underground safety advisor, as well as many other duties aimed at promoting safety as a value and ensuring everyone goes home to their loved ones each day.
