ABOUT EMILY ACLAND MICHAEL
I work at the intersection of philanthropy, partnerships, and systems change—helping mission-driven organizations mobilize the capital and collaborations needed to tackle complex global challenges.Over the past 15+ years, I’ve helped nonprofits and social enterprises mobilize more than $100M in philanthropic and blended capital across global health, youth development, biomedical research, and community health systems. My work focuses on aligning major funders, grassroots organizations, and global networks around shared outcomes and long-term impact. I’ve led global external affairs and development teams, stewarded partnerships with organizations including UNICEF, The Global Fund, Skoll Foundation, Bayer Foundation, and Google.org, and represented organizations in global convenings such as the UN General Assembly and Skoll World Forum. At the core of my work is a simple belief: how we fund change matters as much as what we fund.I’m particularly interested in advancing trust-based philanthropy, power-shifting funding models, and locally rooted leadership. The most durable solutions emerge when capital flows to the people closest to the challenges—and when partnerships are built on trust, transparency, and shared accountability. My work often includes: • Designing partnership strategies that unlock catalytic capital • Coaching leaders and teams to confidently engage funders and partners • Structuring collaborative funding models and public-private partnerships • Translating complex ideas into compelling narratives that inspire investmentToday, I advise high-impact organizations and social enterprises across Africa, Asia, and globally on fundraising strategy, investor engagement, and partnership development.I’m always interested in connecting with leaders who are reimagining philanthropy, building new models of impact, or mobilizing capital for bold ideas.
