I worked on expanding the debugging capabilities of the Calyx programming language through Rust based tooling and IDE integration. Specifically, I contributed to a custom VSCode extension and backend infrastructure to support interactive debugging by doing the following- Devised a VSCode debug extension for Calyx using the Microsoft Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP)- Engineered a metadata parser in Rust to translate Calyx program information into a format compatible with the debugger. This allowed debugging across arbitrary Calyx files- Mapped user defined breakpoints to Calyx control nodes by leveraging parsed metadata and the Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP), enabling targeted breakpoint functionality.
