ABOUT DMITRY ZAVIALOV

I specialise in the space where human dynamics meet complex system transformation. With over a decade of experience across academia, education, and government, my focus is on enhancing human capacity, aligning diverse stakeholder needs, and designing solutions that actually work for the people using them.In my current work as a Learning Designer and Lecturer, I bridge the gap between digital systems and human behaviour to create highly effective, learner-centred environments. This practical work is deeply underpinned by my PhD research in Politics and my experience as a published author. My book, Whataboutisms in International Politics, explores how actors use rhetorical strategies to shape perceptions of reality and navigate high-stakes institutional conflicts. This foundation allows me to manage complex organisational dynamics, conduct rigorous qualitative research, and translate high-level theory into actionable strategy.Beyond the university, I am the Founder of the Walk & Talk Auckland community. This initiative focuses on \'embodied deliberation\', bringing diverse professionals together to foster genuine dialogue, build psychological safety, and break down communication barriers outside of traditional environments.Whether I am creating a learning experience that aligns various stakeholders or facilitating community dialogue in Cornwall Park, my core philosophy remains the same: true transformation always starts with human connection.
