ABOUT DENISE M. ABATZIS

I’m a qualitative insights and market research professional with a long-standing focus on healthcare - by choice, and with genuine enthusiasm. I’ve always been drawn to work that lets me explore new topics, learn from people with lived experience, and connect insights across contexts to inform better decisions.Over the course of my career, that curiosity has taken me across healthcare, consumer products, and technology, with a deepening emphasis on healthcare research. Today, I spend much of my time listening to physicians, patients, and caregivers - often in the context of rare or underrepresented conditions - and translating those human stories into insights that help guide strategy, development, and decision-making.My core strength is qualitative moderation and synthesis. I’m known for listening with empathy, asking thoughtful follow-ups, and knowing when to pivot in the moment. I care deeply about creating research experiences that feel respectful and engaging for participants, while still delivering clear, actionable insights for clients.Having worked remotely for much of my career (since 2003), I’ve learned that meaningful collaboration isn’t about location; it’s about intention. Whether partnering virtually or in person, I value long-term relationships and continuity across projects. The most impactful work happens when clients and colleagues feel like true partners, connecting the dots over time rather than treating research as one-off engagements.Based in Richmond, VA, I live with my husband, two kids, and our pets. Outside of work, I enjoy walking, reading, films, and art - anything that helps me keep seeing the world through new eyes.
