About Denis U. Dilek
My experience spans, research, service as Business Unit Leader of a national consulting firm, in Forensics and Condition Assessment as well asconstruction of nuclear and combined cycle fossil plants. I am a Registered Professional Engineer in NC, and a Ph.D. graduate of North Carolina State University.I served as Business Unit Leader for MACTEC (formerly Law Engineering/currently AMEC Foster Wheeler) in Raleigh, NC. The Condition Assessment Consulting Group I managed, consisted of engineers and architects and support/junior staff specializing in material failures, forensic investigations, expert witness/ testimony, condition assessment and repairs of structures. As the Business Unit Leader, I performed management duties in addition to oversight of technical work as a Principal and a Project manager. I served as the Discipline Technical Specialist for Westinghouse Electric Company.(previously Shaw Group/CB & I) for construction of the Nuclear projects. Before the Westinghouse acquisition of CB & I\'s nuclear arm, the company built fossil combined cycle plants in addition to nuclear. I provided consulting services for both new construction as well as the Services division for Condition Assessment and Repair of existing power plant structures.During this time, I also served as an Adjunct-Founding Faculty Member of Civil Engineering Department @ Izmir University of Economics for 3 yearsSubsequently I served as a Key Specialty Leader for Wood Group, providing condition assessment and repair consulting services to Federal Government, Industrial and Power Utility Clients. I took part in repair of Hydro Power structures and Safety Assurance Reviews for Army Corps of Engineers.I currently serve as a Senior Principal in the Resources Division of HDR, providing services to utilities on Hydro/Non-Hydro Power projects. I am an active participant in ACI\'s technical committees, authored 40+ publications in forensic evaluations and mass concrete construction, including a book chapter on Condition Assessment of Structures in Failure and Distress of Concrete Structures
