ABOUT DAVID TOUGH
David is an immunologist with extensive experience in both academic and industrial settings, with over 130 peer-reviewed publications. After obtaining his PhD in immunology at the University of Manitoba, David conducted postdoctoral studies with Jonathan Sprent at the Scripps Research Institute, before moving to the UK where he was a Senior Group Leader and Deputy Scientific Head at The Edward Jenner Institute for Vaccine Research and a Senior Fellow at Oxford University. David joined GSK in 2006 and is an Executive Director, Immunology in the Respiratory and Immunology Research Unit. He leads the T cell Immunology Group, which is focussed on stimulating immuno-regulatory mechanisms for the treatment of immune-mediated diseases. He is also a Vice-Coordinator of the Centre of Excellence in New Target Discovery (Brazil), a GSK Biology Council member, a Member of the Scientific Coordination Committee for EMINENT (Experimental Medicine Initiative to Explore New Therapies), a Member of MRC’s Infection and Immunity Board, a Member of the Editorial Board of Clinical and Experimental Immunology and lectures on immunological memory at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
