NUI Seanad candidate 2025. Primary clinical based tertiary retinal and uveitis specialist, still exploring the interface between vitreoretinal surgery and uveitis. Dual fellowship trained with uveitis and medical retina expertise gained from Prof John Forrester, Prof Andrew Dick and Dr Jennifer Arnold at University of Aberdeen, Wellcome Trust Vision Research Training Fellow exploring lab and clinical aspects sympathetic ophthalmia and other ocular autoimmune disease. Co-investigator in TAP and VIP studies of photodynamic therapy, Vitreoretinal Fellow, Royal Perth Hospital /Lions Eye Institute trained by Prof Ian McAllister. Set up dedicated uveitis clinic and initiated photodynamic therapy, microincision vitrectomy and anti-VEGF injection service at Ireland’s principal university eye hospital unit, Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital, Dublin. Started vitreoretinal fellowship training program and have trained more than a dozen international fellows since. Postgrad trainer for residents and medical students, UCD, RCSI and TCD. Appointed Clinical Associate Professor, UCD 2019 for training and research track record. Active participation in medical volunteer faculty with ORBIS, flying eye hospital training program with dedicated projects in Bangladesh, India and Cameroon.
