ABOUT DANILO ANGELO BRUNO
Throughout my 17+ years of experience as an internal auditor, fraud investigator, and compliance professional, I have focused on enhancing governance in companies with strong presence across LATAM by strengthening internal controls, developing compliance, and combating fraud. My main goal has been supporting companies to improve their governance culture by strenghting internal controls ensuring adherence to required regulations and laws, specifically the Data Protection Laws (i.e: LGPD, etc), Anti-corruption Laws (FCPA, 12.846/13 - Brazilian Anti-corruption Law, etc), the American Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), among other relevant laws and rules based on specific industry requirements. In terms of achievements, I would like to emphasize the opportunity I had at Walmart where I led the Brazilian Compliance Anticorruption Team in overseeing and supporting Level 2 risk management for the largest global anti-corruption compliance program. This program was implemented following an agreement settled with the DOJ, and it significantly reduced fines for Walmart while providing a robust layer of security for the anti-corruption program.I also highlight my time at Caldic-GTM Group, where I served as the Head of Internal Audit for one of the biggest world chemical distributors. In this role, I implemented a comprehensive internal audit program covering high-risks previously identified after risk assessment also overseen by me, addressing risk mitigation measures to related third parties, segregation of duties, and delegation of authorities. I supported key areas in developing their policies and performed the first inventory counting of 15 Mexican warehouses resulting in corrective controls for approximately USD 900M in inventory equity.Furthermore, using the forensic skills I acquired throughout my 10 years of experience at PwC, I conducted multiple fraud investigations in various Latin American countries, reporting my findings to top-level management, including the Audit Committee and Executive Board, about cases related to violations of code of conduct, embezzlement of funds, conflict of interest, collusion and vendor favoritism, as well as potential mismanagement.During my recent role as the Internal Audit Chief at Coca-Cola FEMSA Company, I led a team of 7 auditors in conducting regulatory compliance audits across FEMSA branches in Latin American countries. These audits were related to laws on Anti-Corruption and Anti-Money Laundering, Data Protection and Privacy, Tax disclosure, and other regulatory compliance topics.
