ABOUT DANIEL WILSON

Education leader with deep experience across school leadership, system improvement, and secondary–tertiary pathways. Having served as Principal of Nayland College and worked nationally through roles with Education New Zealand, I’m committed to lifting outcomes for students and strengthening the capability of the educators who support them.I’ve recently returned to the Ministry of Education New Zealand as a Leadership Advisor, working alongside principals and leadership teams across Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast. My focus is on coaching and developing leaders, building collaborative networks, and supporting inclusive, future‑focused practice that responds to local communities.I’m particularly passionate about secondary-tertiary partnerships, ensuring strong pathways into trades, vocational and tertiary learning, and creating smoother transitions for young people as they move beyond school. This includes working closely with schools, iwi, community partners and tertiary providers to design opportunities that are relevant, innovative and regionally aligned.I value big‑picture thinking, practical problem‑solving, and fostering the relationships that help great ideas take shape. Always open to connecting with others interested in educational leadership, system improvement, and the evolving education landscape across all sectors.
