I didn’t build kid-grit from research alone. I built it from my childhood.From being the kid you saw but didn’t REALLY see. Precocious. Medium-achieving. Saying all the right things so no one would look too closely. I had teachers who cared. But I knew how to perform and lie. And a lot of kids today know how to pretend and hide too.Here’s the uncomfortable truth:Kids are more disconnected than we realize.Teachers need practical strategies, not more theory.Parents & schools are operating like separate systems.Education has become transactional — driven by testing, speed, and performance metrics.We move kids through benchmarks faster than we build trust.And trust is the foundation for risk.
