ABOUT CORNELIUS HENDERSON

I am a specialist transmission line design engineer with added experience in distribution lines and telecom joint use integration. My main focus is in transmission line design of lines ranging up to 765kV with experience as lead designer in multiple projects. I provide technical assistance with site specific construction problems, construction method approvals, technical reviews for project tender submissions, specific line item designs, inspections of line item testing, manufacturing plant factory inspections etc. My focus is design lead of projects with a team of multi-disciplined engineers doing line route selection, profiling, hardware design etc. I also train line design, develop training material for training of construction personnel / designers in the design and construction of overhead transmission- distribution and telecommunication lines. I hold a Masters of Engineering in mitigating construction risk in the design and planning of overhead transmission lines.Thorough understanding of structural loading and overhead line design specifications such as ASCE74, CSA C22.3, AS1170, AEUC, wood pole specifications as well as Cigre design papers.I have a Master\'s degree in Mitigating construction risk in the design and planning of high voltage overhead transmission lines.I have a keen interest in the physics of catenaries and overhead cables as well as mitigating vibration on conductors and integrating this knowledge with local specifications to optimize designs.My greatest achievement was as part of the design team building a 765kV line in the Western Cape region of South Africa. The line transverses some of the most difficult terrain and relied on very precise helicopter construction as well as Jin pole construction of structures up to 89tons in weight. Valleys crossed required spans of up to 1300m. My duties included constant interaction with the contractor, assistance in planning of safe work execution, design and profiling in PLS Cadd etc. The project formed the last link in a 1600km scheme.
