ABOUT COLBY D.

As a junior at Bowdoin College and IES Abroad: Freiburg, I seek to understand the World around us; through Government, Earth Science, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I focus on policy, sustainable management (especially fisheries management), and data-driven decisions.I\'d like to apply the skills I\'ve learned at Bowdoin to advise policy decisions in Washington D.C. as a Congressional Aide, or at a sustainable energy or resources firm acting as a liaison between the policy and regulations to the practical development of these systems. In my spare time, I can be found reading, fencing, or tinkering with my Amateur Radios. I hold an Amateur Extra class license and would like to synthesize my skills as a former NASA intern, my love for radios, and my mind for policy into using GIS data from satellites to advise policy practically and effectively; helping those who need it the most.I am passionate and driven; involving myself in multiple clubs at Bowdoin and in my high school years. Including the Peucinian Society at Bowdoin - a philosophical debate society, the Fencing team, WBOR - the campus radio station, and Model UN. In high school, I founded the school\'s Science Olympiad and Trivia teams, the latter of which I led to Nationals. I also lead the Debate and Model UN teams, frequently competing in Statewide Tournaments.
