The scrutiny body\'s role is to act as a critical friend to the Board of Directors in assessing the Board\'s performance and effectiveness.Answerable to the members, the overall purpose is to obtain assurance that the strategic direction is in line with the principles and objectives as set out by the FSB\'s constitution. This strategic scrutiny activity is a key component of the good governance of FSB.My personal interest will be looking at how the culture of the organisation is set and ensuring that these behaviours are role modelled at the top to allow for effective leadership.

ABOUT CLARE ELSBY
My accountancy training means I have a wide range of commercial experience. Having started and managed (along with my husband) a successful accountancy practice for 33 years, I understand and can relate to the issues faced by business owners on a day to day basis. As Elsby\'s has grown, so have our staff numbers and following semi-retirement, I am consulting back into the business, ensuring that we do everything we can to be an employer of choice and the only accountant a business should ever need.More recently I have taken my interest in supporting people with change and building emotional resilience to a new level. I have taken time to become qualified with health England’s new mental health qualification and achieved a Diploma in Positive Psychology and coaching. These qualifications will assist me in supporting my colleagues at Elsby & Co, and also to work with individuals on a 1-2-1 basis to improve their mental health and ultimately have a better day.
