Currently engaged in social impact investment which contributes to the growth of middle classes in emerging markets. Focused on health, education and and job creation. Concluded first investment in a “genome” start-up and a second in a Cocoa farm in Colombia which employs 300 full time people who are entitled to social security contributions and would otherwise be underemployed or unemployed. 50% are women. Farm production is entirely for export, earning foreign exchange while bringing economic benefits to the local community and providing investors with a commercial return on equity. Currently exploring installation of Solar micro-grids in remote locations off the electricity grid, which would facilitate education, health care and economic activity to local communities while earning a commercial ROE to investors.
