ABOUT CENGIZ NERGIZ

Cengiz Nergiz has M.Sc. in civil engineering specialized in coastal and harbor engineering. He has been involved for a number large and small hydro projects both in Turkey and abroad for 20+ years. He has experience in designing of a wide range of hydraulic structures especially associated with dam projects from feasibility to implementation stages. He has supervision (5 years), design (5 years) and design management (10 years) based experiences on dam and associated structures. His experience covers; selection of dam axis and dam type and optimization of associated structures via studying topographical, geological, geotechnical, seismic features of dam site. He is capable of doing hydraulic calculations (i.e. freeboard calculation, flood routing, optimization of spillway and diversion structures, dimensioning of inlet structures, surge shafts, flushing outlets and bottom outlets, tail water HEC-RAS water surface analysis, head loss calculations etc.), dam body analyses (i.e. slope stability analysis, seepage analysis, stress-strain analysis, thermal crack analysis etc.) and structural calculations (stability, reinforcement and tunnel lining). He has been working as a director of a project team over 10 years. Alkumru Dam (clay core rockfill dam with 130 m height), Kızkayası Dam (concrete face rockfill dam with 165 m height and Çetin Dam (roller compacted concrete dam with 165 m height) are the major projects that he personally involved in the design stages. He has also quite enough knowledge about other dam types (i.e. ACCRD, asphalt or geomembrane face embankment dams, storage reservoirs, recharge dams etc.) He worked in Oman for Wadi Dayqah Dam and Water Supply Scheme to Muscat and Quriyat Project for 3 years. Also, He participated in different dam projects in Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Algeria Georgia, etc. He has experience in working with governments, private investors, contractors with different languages skill.
