ABOUT CARL EARL-OCRAN
Carl is a British-Ghanaian writer and director, with a passion for storytelling. In October 2022 he was selected as a member of the inaugural BAFTA Connect filmmaking network. His aim is to tell long-form narratives with personal yet universal themes, sharing emotive, character-driven, socially conscious stories with compelling high concepts, highlighting, in particular, underrepresented voices. Carl was awarded funding for his next short film SLEEP AWAKE (2023) from funding platform FILMD, run by actor/director Craig Robers (The Phantom of the Open, 2022). Production begins in early 2023, and the project is also in development as a feature film. Carl was a member of the final BFI Network x BAFTA Crew cohort scheme, and the inaugural ‘Momentum’ mentorship scheme through We Are Parable and Channel 4 in 2021. His short film ARACHNID (2020) was successful on the international festival circuit including BAFTA-qualifying festivals, and his short film HACKNEY DOWNS (2022) was selected for the Guest Programme at Aesthetica Film Festival.Carl runs short-form film and video production company LITTLE BOFFIN FILMS in London, making branded films and promos for international and household named clients, and has spent 12 years writing in broadcast entertainment TV.
