The Director of Engagement and Strategic Initiatives for the School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences is a new position that was created and began in August 2023. Through this position, there are three major areas of focus- Cultivating a supportive environment and community of peers, faculty, and staff for students, particularly first-years, interested in STEM majors; this includes providing STEM first-year advisors support and training as well as developing relationships and offering courses and events in collaboration with other offices such as the Office of Career Planning, StrongPoints, the Office of I International Programs, and Disability Services- Connecting with alumnae. This is done through panels, social media, and individual one-on-one e- introductions of current students and alums as well as alums to other alums- Developing relationships with campus offices, such as Marketing and Institutional Advancement, to further publicize and attract funding for NMS/STEM initiatives, based on current needs of NMS programs and successes of NMS alumnae.
