ABOUT BRIAN SORRELL

Brian has been delivering IT and Governance, Risk and Compliance solutions to business for over 25 years. Whether the problem is a risk that needs to be managed or an opportunity that should be capitalized upon Brian knows that a clear understanding is required in order to provide a solution. From his beginnings as an IT entrepreneur, to regional leadership for the world’s third largest asset manager, to his most recent position as Governance Leader, Brian contributes to the success of each enterprise in which he serves.Brian is a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), a Certified Citrix Administrator (CCA). Prior to his technical certifications Brian studied Economics at the UWO. He also trained and practiced a number of military skills and leadership while serving as an Officer in the Canadian Forces. Brian began his career as a small business owner and system engineer. Brian managed a team of engineers, his company’s growth and his company’s finances. Brian entered the fast paced, high pressure world of finance. Brian was Regional Head of IT (Asia Pacific) for Allianz Global Investors. Brian was responsible for all aspects of Information Services and Security. Brian developed and executed the company\'s BCP during the SARS outbreak in Hong Kong. Brian worked very closely with Allianz’s risk control and compliance teams to ensure that the Company was in compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act. Upon returning to Canada Brian provided management consulting services to Oil and Gas companies who were implementing SOX. In his eyes control solutions should meet a business need and be as efficient as any other business solution.Brian is a lifelong student of the martial arts holding a black belt in Shorynjiryu. Brian and his wife are the proud parents of four great children.
