ABOUT BILL MAHONEY
Bill Mahoney is an experienced C-level Executive, Board Member, and Strategic Advisory Consultant. His most recent Chief Executive Officer contract was at ASM International, the world\'s leading association for materials scientists, engineers, and technicians. Joining in late 2016, Bill led ASM to 8% year - year revenue growth, 7% annual membership growth, and 4-fold improvement in net revenue, rendering ASM cash positive and debt-free, while executing a full digital transformation. During his ASM tenure, Bill served on the Board of Granta Design, Ltd, where he catalyzed the 2019 acquisition of Granta by Ansys for a 10X revenues valuation.Bill was previously the CEO of the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) from August, 2005 until March, 2016. Under Mahoney, SCRA financial performance from its applied R&D operations and technology startup investments improved dramatically (see Experience below), leading to a premium acquisition of SCRA\'s Applied R&D subsidiary, ATI, by ANSER Corp. in 2016. Bill served as Chair of ATI\'s Board.SCRA’s growth under Mahoney paralleled its advancing reputation within defense, security, advanced materials, and energy and sustainability markets as a dynamic, research-based business. SCRA competed effectively against larger entities such as Battelle, SAIC, IBM, Mitre Corp, and others.During Bill’s tenure, SCRA received recognition from the defense industry for its Navy Centers of Excellence, and from the State Science and Technology Institute, Southern Growth Policies Conference, Int\'l Economic Development Council, Entrepreneur and Forbes magazines for its SC Launch seed capital programs.During the 35 years prior to SCRA, Bill led companies which commercialized \"first-of-a-kind″ solutions in telecommunications, electronic publishing, automatic monitoring and other emerging markets, leading directly to IPO’s or acquisitions. Among these was SCT Utility Systems, of Columbia, SC. Between 1995 and SCT grew from startup to $175M annual revenues, prior to its sale to Indus International. Bill was Secretary of the ASM Board, and served as Secretary of SCRA\'s Board. Bill also served on national Boards with the NDIA, the NEMA and the FCHEA. He has served in Board roles for notable technology startups, as CEO and board member, as governance leader, and as strategic advisory board member.
