   Barbara Maloney is a Principal in the San Francisco office of Page, a multidisciplinary, architecture, engineering and planning firm. An urban designer and planner with extensive experience, she has directed land use/transportation studies, master plans, redevelop¬ment plans and specific plans for a variety of communities throughout the western U.S. These have ranged from urban plans for large cities and major redevelopment projects within cities, to growth management plans for small rural communities and emerging suburban areas. Recently she has been deeply involved in planning in priority development areas and for transit-oriented de¬velopment, where land use and circulation issues are paramount and scale and density are import¬ant considerations, particularly to local communities. Among the many issues she has addressed are transit and pedestrian relationships, environmental resource conservation, and community character and identity. Barbara also has extensive experience in working with colleges and universities, medical centers, and research entities in planning for new and existing campuses. She has managed large consulting teams of real estate economists, engineers, environmental specialists, and architects, and has directed successful community participation programs as a part of virtually all of these planning efforts. Barbara joined Page when the urban design and planning firm she established with now-Page Principal Emeritus Michael Smiley, BMS Design Group, merged with Page. Previously, Barbara was a principal at EDAW, Inc. Before that, she was a partner at Wallace Roberts & Todd, where she managed the San Francisco office and oversaw all planning and design projects in the western U.S. and Asia. She received her Masters in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley.
