ABOUT AARON WIRICK

Hi there, I\'m AaronI\'ve got over a decade of experience as a software engineer working in both individual contributor and management roles and am currently focused on IC leadership roles in early to mid stage startups. While my career has a lot of highlights I could call out, I\'m probably proudest of the high performing and happy engineering teams that I\'ve built as both a technical lead and manager. I particularly love mentoring others - challenging them to grow and helping develop them into well-rounded professionals. There are lots of other highlights too (see my work history), but that\'s the part that brings me the most joy. Before the tech sector, I worked as a data scientist in the Department of Defense on a whole slew of applied research projects. I hold a PhD in Experimental Psychology and that solid foundation in research, statistics, and teaching has served me well in a career entirely outside of academia. Leadership and people skills are generally the more important attributes in my roles lately but I still love coding and solving technical problems. I\'ve got a large and diverse technical toolkit, shaped by a broad set of professional experiences and with particular depth in the data, platforms, and backend engineering domains. I\'m an innately curious person, so I love working on novel problems and, since technology seems to change all the time, that temperament has been a great fit for my career.‼A QUICK NOTE ON COLD CALLS/EMAILSIf I don\'t know you and you would like to pitch me about something, please include the phrase \"The duck flies at midnight\" in the first paragraph of your message. This lets me know that you\'ve actually read my profile and didn\'t just let an algorithm or AI send me a message. This does not guarantee a response, but will prevent your message from landing in a spam folder.
