About Arnab Nambiar

I’ve been captivated by finance and the capital markets ever since a young age. I completed my junior college from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics and then moved to KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce to pursue my Bachelor’s in Commerce, in Financial Markets. During my college, I played an active role in organising and participating in all the college events and fests. Simultaneously, I also started to trade actively in the stock market, and also analysed a few companies by their fundamentals by reading their annual reports and conference call transcripts.After completing my graduation in 2021, I got the opportunity to work for JPMorgan Chase and Co, as a Surveillance Analyst. My tasks were to monitor and analyse the funds which comply with the Investment Companies Act of 1940 and prepare reports for our stakeholders. Here, I developed good email communication skills, and Excel skills. Having solid quantitative and computing skills, I have experience using financial databases such as Bloomberg and am comfortable manipulating data and drawing insights from it. I also worked on multiple projects with the automation team where I was involved in laying the foundation of the project and helped them in creating the workflow which led to improving the accuracy of preparing our reports and a time save of approximately 160 hours annually.In September 2022, I developed a simple momentum trading strategy and applied it in the market. The idea is to simply diversify the total corpus amongst top 20 stocks based on certain parameters and give them equal weightage. Doing this allowed me to diversify my risk and give myself a balanced exposure to all companies. Over the months I refined the strategy further, learning from my mistakes, and as of August 2022 I was able to generate a simple return of 44.17% as compared to Nifty 50 index which gave a return of 6.95% over the same period.As a person, I have a keen interest in studying causality in the world and am always thinking of new business ideas. I want to keep learning and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I am also pursuing my CFA charter-holder and am currently preparing for my level 2 examination. I am also keen on improving my coding skills and trying to workout different strategies using Python. With qualifications in Finance, and work experience in Asset Management – I am open minded, flexible and can look at problems with a broader perspective.
