ABOUT ALEX OLMSTEAD

If I had to describe the through-line in my professional life so far, it would be the phrase “I can help with that.” Working primarily for small and quickly scaling companies has provided the welcome challenge of wearing more hats than can be neatly distilled into a short summary. So here’s some not-so-concise info about me instead. I live for the opportunity to help solve problems, build new processes, fill emerging roles until they’re defined enough to hire for, and otherwise take on the “etc.s and TBDs” that don’t have a home. All of that has lived under the umbrella of fast-paced production and project management in one form or another for the last 9 years. With so much of my work experience being driven by the need to take on new challenges and solve problems, I believe the greatest outcome for me has been the ability to take the unclear and ambiguous and turn that into actionable information and plans for those I work with. I’ve also become quite comfortable working very cross-functionally with a vast range of stakeholders, and have developed the ability to facilitate clear discussion among groups with varying proficiencies and perspectives.While none of my roles have been an official manager position, I’m grateful that I’ve gotten to hone those skills by managing team workloads, mentoring people in multiple roles I’ve occupied in some capacity, onboarding new team members, and providing guidance and advice whenever possible. I’m passionate about helping people get recognized for doing good work, and am eager to help people achieve their goals. A rapidly growing piece of my professional life is my immense desire to contribute to making work a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Genuine diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and the opportunity to contribute to that on an individual level, is what I look for more than ever in the companies and opportunities I encounter.
