Key accomplishments:1. Led the development of a secure, scalable, modular data submission pipeline that is being used to ingest clinical data from research participants.2. Co-led the development of Bento, a framework to develop cloud-based data-sharing platforms for the National Cancer Institute (NCI).* Bento adheres to the FAIR principles.* Bento reduces build time for data portals by 90%.3. Established the bioinformatics team, within the NCI-MATCH precision medicine clinical trial, that is funded by the US Cancer Moonshot Initiative Developed clinical data submission processes to manage the data submission of 30 participating labs. These processes reduced data processing error rates by more than 70% while scaling up from 5 to 30 participating labs.4. Co-led the implementation of NIH’s Genomic Data Sharing policy across 200+ clinical and research laboratories within the Center for Cancer Research, NCI.5. Designed and developed multiplexed, diagnostic tests to detect infectious pathogens in clinical and environmental samples. These tests provide precise, actionable clinical sequence data at a fraction of the cost and data consumed by NGS solutions. Discovered the evolutionary origins of two human pathogenic viruses.
